How about this for the power of the LinkedIn network? Scotland footy fan Dario Walker couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw this picture of himself – taken in Peru – on our blog about the highs and lows of following Scotland this week.
The picture flashed back to 2018 when Dario and his fellow Tartan Army pal, Raymond Laird, were waiting for a convoy of buses to take them to the stadium in Lima as Scotland faced Peru in a World Cup friendly. Dario had never seen the picture until AV One Solutions Ltd Graeme McGuire spotted our post which had been shared by our colleague Kay Drummond
Dario, who runs Ayrshire-based AV business DWAV Solutions Ltd Solutions, said: “I was blown away when I saw the photograph, just delighted. I’ve never seen it before, but I knew it was taken in Lima because I remember a photographer taking pictures of us. The other guy is known as Sheep’s Heed, because he always wears a sheep tea cosy to the games! I’ve supported Scotland through thick and thin, across Europe and around the world, and made some amazing friendships and experienced carnival atmospheres and tremendous camaraderie.”
Dario was at Hampden on Monday and will be in the crowd at Wembley as the Scots face England tonight. He said: “As a Scotland fan, you’ve always got to be ready for a laugh and never take yourself too seriously. I feel so proud and privileged to have followed Scotland for over 22 years.”
Dario has now LinkedIn with Kay and Gold Star Cleaning Services Scott Willox and has the details of the photographer in Peru whose image has helped forge new friendships and create new business contacts.
